Top California Contractor Overaa Construction Relies on Safe Site Check In to Keep Commercial Construction Projects Moving Forward, Employees Safe from Spreading COVID-19

App protects employees and visitors on job sites spanning elementary schools, health centers, fire stations, compost facilities, and wastewater treatment plants

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – October 6, 2020 – Overaa Construction, a leading San Francisco Bay design-build general contractor, is using a new digital touchless app from Safe Site Check In as a critical part of the company’s efforts to keep commercial construction projects moving forward during the pandemic.

Overaa’s Covid-19 Safety Officer, along with the company’s IT Director, rely on Safe Site Check In to manage employees and visitors checking in to construction sites, and conduct private health screenings. Health records are not stored by Overaa, but the app does allow for contact tracing in the event an employee or visitor tests positive for the coronavirus.

Using Safe Site Check In, employees and site visitors point their smartphone at a poster on the construction site that contains a unique QR code. Along with the digital sign in, they answer COVID-19 related health questions and are immediately approved or denied access to the site. Overaa’s safety officer is alerted when someone is denied access so the company and employee can take immediate action.

Overaa Construction, founded in 1907, is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated design-build general contractor. The company’s commercial construction projects throughout the Bay Area include elementary schools, health centers, fire stations, wastewater treatment plants, churches, compost facilities and parking structures.

“Using Safe Site Check In allows us to eliminate the paper-based check in process and provide employees with a simple, safe and secure way to do daily health screenings,” said Erin Overaa Dissman, IT director, Overaa Construction. “Since field workers have such an easy time using it, and the app saves hours of time checking in to a job site, we’ll continue relying on it as part of our daily job site protocol.”

Overaa is consistently recognized as an award winning, top national and regional contractor. In 2020, the company was ranked among the Top 100 Design Build Firms, Top 100 Environmental Firms, and Top 100 Green Building Contractors. The company’s CEO, Jerry Overaa, is also founder of the Construction Employers Association.

“It’s clear that the need for digital sign in and private health screenings will be with us for the foreseeable future,” said David Ward, CEO, Safe Site Check In. “While Safe Site Check In provides a way for businesses to safely stay open and prevent the spread of COVID-19, the long term benefits of digital sign in to streamline the check in process and provide greater security on job sites and public buildings will be the way we adapt to new ways of working due to the pandemic.”
